A needle felted piping plover adult and chick pose on driftwood shelf. The needle felted plovers are life-size. They are made from a custom blend of 100% wool built over a wire armature. The legs and toes are wire wrapped with wool and finished with beeswax.

The shelf is made from wood found on local beaches and made by a Chatham (Massachusetts) driftwood artist, Lowell Outslay. The wool sculptures are not attached to the wood so they can be posed for best display.

The wood shelf measures 16inches long and 4.5 inches wide. The shelf on which the birds sit extends 4.5 inches from the wall. A hook mounted on the back allows it to rest nearly flush against the wall. The adult plover is 4.5 inches tall and 6 inches long from beak to tail tip. The chic is 3.25 inches tall.
