When Heather first arrived on Cape Cod, she quickly gained a deep appreciation for threatened shorebirds and their diminishing habitats through volunteer work as a piping plover monitor at a First Encounter Beach. Monitors track plover activity during breeding season and report their findings to organizations conducting conservation research.
