A rare anthropomorphic piece, this rabbit rests comfortably, warmed by the fire, a steaming coffee, and cashmere blanket.
The needle felted lounging rabbit is built over a wire armature and has a solid wool core. The top coat is a custom blend of fibers including alpaca, corriedale, and polworth. The eyes are wool with a hint of iridescent fiber. The whiskers are horsehair. The Adirondack chair was made from a pvc model kit and painted a soft mossy green. The blanket is a remnant from a favorite old cashmere sweater of Heather’s on which she crocheted a yellow border. The blanket and rabbit are discreetly and permanently secured to the chair. Even the folded draping of the blanket are secured with hidden stitches to preserve the integrity of the piece. The white coffee mug is made with oven cured clay and painted. Inside the mug is coffee made from brown wool and accented with wool fiber steam. The campfire was made with stones of oven cured clay, glowing embers of glass beads, and wool and iridescent fiber flames and ashes. The bottom of the campfire is supported by tan leather. The chair measures 6 inches wide at the arm rests and 7 inches deep. 8 inches tall at the ear tips. Signed on the chair underside.
