Pink Flamingo
Pink Flamingo
This pink flamingo was made in remembrance of the one spotted on the shores of Cape Cod in June 2024. It is believed to have been displaced from the Caribbean during hurricane Idalia (August 2023). After that event, flocks were even seen as far as Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. To this day, no one knows the whereabouts of the long-legged Cape Cod visitor.
This needle felted flamingo is built over a wire armature and has a solid wool core. The pink top coat is cotswold and corriedale. The eyes are wool. Cotton embroidery floss and silk sari ribbon accentuate the plumage. The watery looking wool base is embellished with iridescent fiber and glass beads. A leather-like underside adds stability to the 9 inch tall sculpture. Signed.
