This realistic mouse eating a pear is very special. Heather had her portrait taken recently by Minneapolis photographer, Shelly Mosman, and included this piece among others needle felted pieces.

The mouse is built over a wire armature and has a solid wool core. The stem is wire wrapped with wool and finished with beeswax. A felted pear leaf rests (and is secured to) the bottom of the leaf. The mouse is also has a wire armature and solid wool core. The top coat is a custom blend of silk and alpaca. Small tufts of the long top coat fiber were applied in a layered array and sculpted with scissors and felting needles. This time consuming process create a more natural looking pelt. The eyes are wool. The whiskers are horsehair. The tiny feet and toes are wire wrapped with pale pink silk and secured with beeswax. The tail is wire and wool and can be bent. The mouse and pear are life-size measure about 4.5 inches tall and wide, excluding tail.
