This needle felted praying mantis is built over a wire armature and has a solid wool core. The green top coat is a custom blend of merino, silk, and Corriedale. The legs are wire wrapped with the blended fibers and secured with beeswax. The wings are silk sari ribbon. The antennae are horsehair accented with a tiny bead of beeswax. The eyes are wool. This piece measures approximately 5.5 inches long and 2.25 inches tall at the head.
