Tufted Titmouse
Tufted Titmouse
Take a woodland walk in anywhere in the eastern United States and you’re likely to see tufted titmouse and hear its familiar peter-peter-peter song.
This is a life-size tufted titmouse. It has a solid wool core. The feathers are a custom blend of wool including alpaca, merino, silk, and Corriedale. The eyes are wool with a reflective touch of iridescent sparkle. The beak is wire, wool, and wax. The feet are wire wrapped with Gotland wool and secured with beeswax. The perch on which the bird sits is a live-edge slab of red cedar Heather cut from a branch she saved from her yard. It is approximately 3/4 inch thick and 3 3/4 inches in diameter and speckled on top with paint as if dusted with snow. Three patches of white fiber accented with iridescent fiber make a snowy surrounding. A sprig of stylized red berries with a leaf complete the winter woodland scene. The snowy patches and berries are fixed to the cedar base. The bird can be held gently and placed back on the base for display. Signed and dated on base underside.
This is not a toy. Keep out of reach of young children and pets. Avoid display in direct sunlight.
