A rabbit enjoying the fruits of a gardner's labor is the story of my summer.
This story book garden scene rests on a handsome hand-carved mid-century free-form wood base that I purchased from a Newfane, Vermont antiques store. The expanse of green is handmade green wool felt made using the wet felt technique and embellished with embroidery stitches. The realistic cabbage is made with wood and fine Italian crepe paper. The needle felted rabbit is built over a wire armature and has a solid wool core and custom blended top coat. The top coat fibers include silk, alpaca, Romanov, and Corriedale. The eyes are wool and whiskers horsehair. Each component--the wool lawn, rabbit and cabbage-- is permanently secured to the wood base.Measures 6 inches tall, 6 inches wide and 4.5 inches deep. Signed on the underside.
