This life-size needle felted saw-whet is perched permanently on an antique wooden basket form that has been wood-burned with the owl’s identification. The owl was built over a wire armature and has a solid wool core. Each feather on the backside was made and applied individually. The eyes are wool with a hint of reflective sparkle. The beak and talons are wire wrapped with wool and secured with beeswax. Together, the form and owl measure 8.5 inches tall and is 6 inches deep (from beak to tail tip). Signed on the underside.
