This mouse sleeps peacefully in a beautiful antique foliate engraved trinket box.
The engraved metal box was purchased in a Chester, Vermont antiques shop. It measures 3.5 inches wide, 2.5 inches deep, and 2 inches tall at the lid when it rests closed on the mouse (the mouse prevents it from closing completely). The life-like mouse was made with the same level of detail and technique as Heather’s larger animals. It was built over a wire armature and has a solid wool core. The fur is a custom blend of fibers applied in a layered array of tiny tufts then sculpted with scissors, razors, and felting needles. The tiny feet and toes are wire wrapped with wool and secured with beeswax to create little claws. The whiskers are horsehair. The mouse can be removed from the box to see that the same level of detail was used for both sides.
